until 11.06. | #3462ARTatBerlin | Galerie Friese shows from 30. April 2022 (Opening: 29.04.) the exhibition 7 Häuser by the artist Horst Antes.

In his exhibition 7 Häuser (7 Houses), Antes shows seven monumental paintings, some of which consist of several parts, depicting the dark, reduced houses typical of Antes. The works, including newly created works, are being shown for the first time in the synopsis curated by the artist himself.

Horst Antes, who took the shock of the Falklands War – that is, that the West felt able to wage war after and despite the experience of World War II – as an occasion to banish the figure from his work, has since devoted himself to images of figures, images of houses. The houses are dense, self-contained areas of colour most vividly set in relation to one another. They elude hasty readability. They are monstrous signs of life itself that have become images.
