bis 13.04. | #4169ARTatBerlin | CAMERA WORK shows from 24. Februar 2024 the exhibition “Las Mil y una Noches” by the artist Eugenio Recuenco.

CAMERA WORK Gallery presents from 24 February 2024 an exhibition by Eugenio Recuenco with around 20 predominantly large-format works from three decades of the photo artist’s career (2006-2023). Eugenio Recuenco is exclusively represented worldwide by CAMERA WORK.

Eugenio Recuenco’s work is characterised by an artistic vision with a high recognition value. Photography and staging are interwoven and often inspired by art history, film and fairy tales. This results in opulent, surrealistic works that are realised with technical and aesthetic perfection. The works are based on an emotional depth that leads to a narrative complexity. These innovative approaches and artistic originality become visible in the exhibition with motifs from “One Thousand and One Nights”. They make it clear that Eugenio Recuenco’s oeuvre has had a lasting impact on contemporary photography and the art market.

Eugenio Recuenco (*1968 in Madrid) studied fine art before focussing on photographic art. The renowned photographer’s creative spectrum includes advertising, fashion, stage design and art. Early in his career, he worked for magazines such as “GQ”, “View” and “Vogue” as well as on campaigns for brands such as Diesel, Wilkinson and Nina Ricci. Recuenco was also hired as art director for the opera “Les Huguenots” in New York and began producing commercials, campaign films, short films and documentaries as well as creating music videos for numerous bands. Eugenio Recuenco has been honoured with numerous awards for his work, including the National Photography Award ABC (2004) for his series “Concepción, Parto, Juego y Educación”, the Golden Lion in Cannes (La Bella Durmiente, Playstation 2005 and The Little Prince, 2013), bronze at the Ibero-American Advertising Festival, Award for Best Advertising for “Esencia de una Seducción” (2008) and various awards at international film festivals for his short film “Manuscrit Trouvé dans l’Oubli” (2016). His work is regularly included in international solo and group exhibitions, including FIT (New York), Deichtorhallen (Hamburg) and Museu del Disseny (Barcelona). In 2007, he was invited to design the “Lavazza” calendar – and again in 2011 and 2021. The artist lives and works in Madrid and is recognised as one of the most creative contemporary photo artists.
