until 27.07. | #2510ARTatBerlin | galerie weisser elefant shows from 1st July 2019 the installation “Hantieren und Fingieren (in Farbe #6)” (> Handling and faking (in colour #6) by the artist Elisabeth Sonneck. This is taking place in combination with the summer course for children of Daniela Herr in the gallery (01.-05.07. + 08.-10.07. 2019, 10-15 o’clock, registration requested).
For her summer exhibition the gallery is again open, bright and free: Elisabeth Sonneck shows the installation “Hantieren und Fingieren (in Farbe #6). The title of the exhibition says that something is faked, this is called faking and means the effect of colors in space. The “handling” is of course the work itself, which happens with hands and fingers.
For this purpose, generous lengths of paper are stretched and rolled through the room, painted, and later released for further processing by children in the gallery’s summer course. The coloured stripes divide the rooms or connect them, create new perspectives and constantly illuminate fresh colour effects. In this way, the artist creates very topical, fleeting effects at every moment, which are astonishing and inspire the viewer to continue imaginating.

In the summer courses over a total of eight days, Daniela Herr and the children will further develop and expand the existing situation. Ideas of economy and sustainability will also be taken into account, as found objects from the way to the gallery will currently become part of the installation. The resulting exhibition can be visited until 27 July.
„In dialogue with the particularities of the site, colour-spatial situations of temporary character emerge – unrepeatable, fragile and not crystallized into solid forms. Each paper can take on different forms at different times and places. We extend this openness by including unprocessed finds, materials and leftovers. The relationships between work and tools, things and remnants are blurred in favor of the question of possible relationships between the unrelated. Beyond the usual contexts, undefined places are unfolded where painting and other things collide, including damaged, broken, weathered parts.“
