until 01.10. | #3551ARTatBerlin | Galerie Schindler in Potsdam presents from 18. August 2022 the exhibition FREEZE with new artworks by the artist Constantin Schroeder.
As if frozen to ice, Constantin Schroeder’s protagonists stand before a dark wall, as if covered with pouring rain. Torn out of different worlds, mystical, fairy-tale, hyper-realistic or religious, with looks that no longer leave the recipient’s mind. With old master skills and almost always in a greatly reduced color palette (black / white) fantastic oil paintings with photorealistic details are created. It is about humanism, the human psyche and contemplative moods.

In the current exhibition FREEZE Schroeder shows his virtuosity also in the representation of materiality. Venerable robes, in stiff-looking lace (Exposed) or soft-flowing silk, seem to ensnare and protect their owners.

Like a fashion designer removed from the world, the artist creates imaginary models reminiscent of the Middle Ages or the Renaissance without losing their absolutely contemporary effect.

Constantin Schroeder’s works are serious, mostly dark and combined with glistening white they always look incredibly aesthetic, unforgettable are his mostly young and attractive characters.
