until 21.12. | #2181ARTatBerlin | Galerie Hilaneh von Kories shows from 22nd September 2018 the exhibition “Blende f/5.6BrightMoments” by the filmmaker Bogdan Dziworski.

Filmmaker and photographer Bogdan Dziworski is arguably one of the most important artists associated to the Polish avant-garde and experimental cinema. Dziworski developed a huge reputation as an image artist in his home country; whereas in Germany especially his photographic images are a fresh discovery to the local art scene. His contrasty analogue black and white images deliver an insight into the everyday life of Polish cities during the second half of the 20th century. Since the 1960’s he created this particular body of work, which often gave him the cognomen “Polish Cartier-Bresson”. Similar to the French photographer, Dziworski has a distinct aesthetic for the momentum and follows a humanistic approach in his photography.

“My photography from that time was never staged. It is ‘ran to’. Day after day I photographed, sometimes up to eight hours. You need to wait for this precise moment, in which reality determines the stage. You need to be lucky. And I was.”
