until 09.06. | #1928ARTatBerlin | Galerie Z22 presents from 14th April 2018 the exhibition “You’d better shoot the Robot first” by the artist Benka.
“You’d better shoot the robot first” is a critique of the robotization of humanity, artificial intelligence and digitization. The robot replaces the individual. This can have far-reaching consequences such as unemployment, isolation and digital wars: dramatic effects that endanger our democracy. It simply threatens the loss of humanity.
The sociologist Harald Welzer warns in his book “The Smart Dictatorship” against the abuse of social media and the everyday, in all areas of our lives acting digitization. BENKA admonishes with the means that painting offers him, using terms from the digital world:
Captchas serve as a security query and consist of randomly arranged numbers or letters. With captchas you can check if a human or a machine is involved.
They are human-readable, but for computers this is usually impossible, as letters and numbers are so distorted that systems can not read them.
This captchas interprets BENKA and transforms it into a symbol of his artistic struggle.
