until 23.06. | #1941ARTatBerlin | Galerie Mutare shows from 21st April 2018 the exhibtion ÜBERGÄNGE (>Transitions) by the artist Barbara Burck.
The exhibition ÜBERGÄNGE shows new works by the Leipzig painter and Heisig master student Barbara Burck. It will be on display until June 23, 2018 at Galerie Mutare. Barbara Burck’s pictures show real situations; everyday moments that, it seems, were caught in the middle of a movement that the painter had captured; Situations that may have passed by the next moment. In order to capture as many aspects of such a situation as possible, Burck creates serial images of the same situation. In this exhibition, for example, places in the city, parks, railway stations or even stops, in or at which individual figures are depicted. They are captured by Burck on her canvases at a certain moment in their appearance in oil paints.

Her in color and form intense, yet quiet images are those that are able to evoke diverse moods and feelings in the viewer. For Barbara Burck herself, her best pictures are those in which the color composition is perfect, and the color creates and fills the pictorial space particularly well.
The special effect of the paintings by Barbara Burck is essentially due to the color and the pasty paint application. It is the abundance of color that makes the pictures of this painter look even more atmospheric than their pictures can convey.

This seems to be the only clear indication of the handwriting of her prominent teacher Bernhard Heisig, which can be found in the pictures of Barbara Burck. Heisig, who undoubtedly was one of the most important painters in the GDR, was known for his expressive use of color. Barbara Burck was Heisig’s master student.

Barbara Burck, born 1960 in Berlin, grew up near Rostock and studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. She was a master student of Prof. Bernhard Heisig in the period 1985-86. Since 1987 she works freelance in Leipzig. Her work has been featured in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions
shown.
