AMPLE FOOD FOR STUPID THOUGHT[1]
Once upon a time …” could be the fabulous beginning of an article on an art epoch when artists were turning towards the insignificant and every day life. What is meant, is the time of Fluxus-Art. When it began and when it came to an end or if it ended at all, is disputed. Whether it is or was a movement comparable to the Dada movement for example, is also undecided. It is even unclear which artists belonged or belong to Fluxus.
„Maciunas was the only one who had a concrete idea of what Fluxus meant, but I am very much for leaving it uncertain. I much prefer each doing what he wants to do. .. nobody can say who or what Fluxus is. I find this nice.“[2]
Besides the spectacular actions, concerts and performances of the Fluxus-artists there is a more quiet side of Fluxus which is easily overlooked and overheard. For more than 50 years Fluxus artists have created sheets, notes, boxes, small and tiny objects (3-dimensional poems), supplying ample food for stupid thoughts on the verge of art and the art of living.
Some exemplary works are presented in this exhibition.
We cordially invite you to the exhibition Ample Food For Stupid Thought.
