until 24.06. | #1197ARTatBerlin | BQ Berlin shows from 29th April 2017 the exhibition “Singale Sugat” by the artist Matti Braun.

Titled Singale Sugat , Matti Braun presents a new group of works at BQ. The flat, tableau-like works are a result of experimentations with pigmented concrete. In this process, the architectural material undergoes an alchemist transformation: Out of a material that is usually perceived as dense and cool, Braun produces various fine layers. These appear as abstract, cloudy formations on the works’ smooth surfaces. Within an installation format, the numerous shades of black and white create a painterly track for visitors. A layer of black grit covering the ground intensifies the impression. Adding an element of gentle haptic resistance to a walk in the gallery, the sound of the visitors’ steps on the grit also evokes the association of a park environment. A group of abstract bronze sculptures completes the ensemble and makes it look like the intentional reversal of relations between inside and outside.
