until 25.02. | #3740ARTatBerlin | Galerie Gilla Lörcher shows from 21. January 2022 the exhibition “State of Play” by the artist Claudia Desgranges.

Galerie Gilla Lörcher | Contemporary Art is very pleased to present the second solo exhibition by the Cologne based painter Claudia Desgranges. Her work refers to an examination of abstract modernism, minimalism, abstract expressionism and color field painting. Curator Roland Scotti wrote about Claudia Desgranges’  work: “Although we can follow every step of the artist’s work in each ‘work’, see the application and removal of the brush, anticipate the movement of the artist’s hand and arms, recognize the density or transparency of the acrylic paint and the pigments used, the juxtaposition, the superimposition or the interweaving of the traces of color could almost be copied – although we can also mathematically or intuitively understand the causalities of the spatial references in their spatial compositions, there remains something more that eludes any practical imitation or intellectual appropriation, that itself no longer with can be grasped by feeling.” (…) “What happens in these spaces of perception is subject to “strict” control, beyond all arbitrariness. Desgranges may be less a painter than a choreographer; the story she tells is the story of color movement, color rhythm, color pauses, color duration, intensities of appearance and disappearance.” (Exzerpt from the UPDATE catalog by Claudia Desgranges, LVR Landesmuseum Bonn a. o., 2014).
