until 22.11. | #2598ARTatBerlin | Köppe Contemporary shows from 25th October 2019 the exhibition Fiction with works by the artists Walter Yu and Ilias Vasilos.
The exhibition ‘Fiction’ is the result of a collaboration between Walter Yu and Ilias Vasilos. The collaboration began in 2018 in Mesologgi, Greece, and continued in Berlin in 2019. The results are
several joint paintings on the subject of fiction. The exhibition is complemented by selected individual works, including sculptures by both artists.

Walter Yu was born in Beijing in 1989, where he studied German Language and Literature (2007-2011). He came to Germany in 2011 to study art at the University of the Arts (2011-2017). He lives and works as a painter, draughtsman, object artist, photographer and filmmaker in Berlin. In 2018 Walter Yu won the AArtist-in-Residence Prize of the Federal Foreign Office and in 2019 the Young Art Award Berlin of the Centre Bagatelle art association.

Walter Yu’s pictorial language is characterized by contemporary Western style elements, combined with Chinese pictorial tradition of craftsmanship and artistry.
Ilias Vasilos | Reconstruction – 40 x 40 x 68 cm, Holz, 2018
Ilias Vasilos, born 1989 in Ptolemaida (Greece), studied fine and applied arts at the Aristotle University Thessaloniki. Vasilos’ path to painting led him through his occupation with comics and graffiti. The main features of his paintings are geometric signs and patterns reminiscent of digital structures or electronic signals. An essential aspect of his work is the process of repetition.

The result of the collaboration between Walter Yu and Ilias Vasilos will be presented for the first time in Germany.
