until 11.08. | #1444ARTatBerlin | Peres Projects presents from 23rd June 2017 the group exhibition “The Second Self”.
“The Second Self” takes its title from Sherry Turkle’s 1984 book which looks at the role of computers in our social and psychological lives. Computer technology has served as a great catalyst for society, impacting our awareness of ourselves, of each other and our relationship to the world. We have endeavored to humanize technology and to create it in our own image. A contemporary challenge in this endeavor is to create room for human error and emotion within technology. The works by the artists in this exhibition explore the notion of replicating individuality, with all of its flaws, in technology and provide different perspectives on the psychology of computation, allowing us to view our relationship with technology with fresh eyes.
