Prologue | Erik, imagine if the pandemic did not dominate our lives at the moment and we could meet in your home or in your studio. Where do we talk together? Maybe we are sitting at your favorite place? I don’t really have a “favorite” place. Most of my time is spent either at the studio or at home – I wouldn’t describe either as favorites, per say. They are both quite comfortable though. I always imagine some kind of forest dwelling as being a favorite place. Nothing but shady forest. Where do you come from, where were you born when? I was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1985. How and where do you currently live and work? I currently live and work in Montreal, Canada. Which stations and people have shaped you? Numerous people have shaped me – my parents of course, but also so many others. The list is exhaustive and too in-depth to get into here. Which writers do you currently find exciting and which books are on your bookshelf? I’m currently reading “Essays on the Perception of Art” by Pavel Florensky. Among other things he was a Russian Orthodox theologian, priest, philosopher, mathematician, physicist, electrical engineer, inventor, and polymath. My interest in his writing has to do with his …

Akademie der Künste Pariser Platz

Founded in 1696, the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin is one of the oldest cultural institutes in Europe. This international community of artists currently has about 400 members and includes the sections fine arts, architecture, music, literature, performing arts, as well as film and media art. Exhibitions, concerts, debates, readings, award ceremonies, film, theater and dance performances are organized here. In addition to the main building, the Akademie der Künste at Hanseatenweg is also an important location for exhibitions, events and meetings. KW Institute for Contemporary Art aims to approach the central questions of our times through the production, display, and dissemination of contemporary art. Kunsthaus Dahlem

Kunsthaus Dahlem is an exhibition venue for postwar German modernism (East and West). It is administered and operated by Atelierhaus Dahlem, a non-profit subsidiary of the Bernhard Heiliger Foundation founded in 2013. Located at the edge of the Grunewald, the building was open as an exhibition venue in summer 2015 after a renovation and dismantling in accordance with historic preservation standards. There will also be a permanent exhibition on the building’s eventful history, free-of-charge to visitors. One essential area of concentration of the exhibition venue is the presentation of sculpture, supplemented by painting, prints and drawings, and photography. The Verein Berliner Künstler (VBK) House of Artists – more than a gallery – is a self-governing and independent association of visual artists living and / or working in Berlin. The club’s own gallery on Schöneberger Ufer acts as a platform for various exhibition formats and discourse events. In addition, the VBK cooperates with national and international organizations and implements art projects in Germany and abroad. Founded in 1841, the VBK is the oldest association of artists in Germany and currently represents 120 active members.
