until 31.10. | #4760ARTatBerlin | Galerie Michael Haas shows from Friday, 12 September 2025 (Opening: 11.09.) the exhibition “Gänge geh’n noch – Neue Bilder” by the artist Peter Bömmels.

Peter Bömmels (born 1951) creates works using acrylic and polymer clay, mixed media with human hair, and marble sculptures. Yet painting has always been at the core of his practice. Since his beginnings with the Cologne artist group Mülheimer Freiheit, the self-taught artist has remained faithful to a carefree, trivial aesthetic. In his unique visual language – reduced to essential elements, yet open and ambiguous – figures and hybrid creatures populate surreal spaces.

His paintings reflect both the absurdity of everyday life and mythical dimensions drawn from fairy tales, memories, and the “eternal cycle.” After the thought-laden years of minimalism and conceptual art, his humour still resonates as a liberating gesture.
