until 26.04. | #4632ARTatBerlin | Galerie SCHMALFUSS BERLIN shows from 29th March 2025 the exhibition „KONTRAGENZ – von beiden Seiten“ with paintings by the artist Hans-Hendrik Grimmling and sculptures by the artist Reinhard Fescharek.
The exhibition “KONTRAGENZ – von beiden Seiten” brings together two artists Hans-Hendrik Grimmling and Reinhard Fescharek who not only have very different biographies, but are also far apart in their conceptions of material, form and image. However, both explore in a very similar way their respective “becoming identical” with their own passion, the self-chosen “entanglement” in their own material, as a bridge to the world and to themselves.

H.-H. Grimmling, who moved to West Berlin in 1986, looks back on formative years of study and work as well as exhibition closures in the GDR. He has lived here in West Berlin as a freelance artist ever since, passing on his knowledge to future generations from 2001, for example as a professor at the btk-fh, Berlin, from 2007-17.

Grimmling and Fescharek are kindred spirits. They inspire each other through their different ways of thinking and artistic creation.
„One seeks, the other finds. To this day, Hans-Hendrik Grimmling is still searching for THE form that explicitly expresses what he wants tocommunicate. In doing so, he has developed his typical, concise painterly style and symbolism. Hans-Hendrik Grimmling’s works assert themselves within public and private collections with an almost sacred aura. Reinhard Fescharek’s sculptures, on the other hand, are down-to-earth and earthy. Created from found materials, their intrinsic history of development and form is worked out by the sculptor full of empathy,” explains Michael W. Schmalfuß.
