until 23.12. | #2137ARTatBerlin | Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung presents from 15th September 2018 the exhibition MICROCOSM MACROCOSM with photographs by the artist Yamamoto Masao.

YAMAMOTO Masao originally studied oil painting before discovering photography as an ideal medium that evokes memories in a special way. Yamamoto is known for his small-format gelatin silver prints, which he tints, overpainting or other manual intervention edited so that they receive object character and reminiscences of the past with them. As diverse as his motives are, his images always express the humble opinion of the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu that man is only a small part of nature, which in turn represents only a tiny part of an immense cosmos. By observing all the little things around him, Yamamoto finds a key to the all-encompassing nature of the universe he captures on photographic paper.
