until 02.08. | #2055ARTatBerlin | Magic Beans Gallery presents from 22nd June 2018 the exhibition “Tom Hoops Introduces Wild Dogs in Paris”, curated by Tom Hoops.

Magic Beans is pleased to present the Tom Hoops curated group show Tom Hoops Introduces Wild Dogs in Paris.

“People gave us everything for free. We were only allowed to use a limited amount of film per image, but there were no limits to creativity. I always say they let go of us like wild dogs in the streets of Paris “- Helmut Newton.

Photographer Tom Hoops, known for his strong emotional portraits, and Ermahn Yuceer, founder of Greyhours watchmaking, founded Wild Dogs in Paris in 2016 as a photography collection. The collection aims to promote existing and ongoing personal projects so that they can be pursued with passion, free of the committees’ limitations or job orders to which many photographers are bound. The works selected for this purpose are produced independently throughout the world by both young and established artists.

There are no restrictions on the genre or theme, just a circulated collection of classical and new visions of photography from the entire spectrum of the medium. While Wild Dogs builds a strong online platform in Paris, it also remains a physical collection with the goal of building an extensive body of work that will then be publicly screened.

In 2017, Wild Dogs in Paris, together with watchmakers Greyhound, launched a broad scholarship program designed to enable photographers to pursue personal projects. This program provides the beneficiaries with financial and technical support to complete ongoing photographic projects. Currently the program is an open call for tenders.

Wild Dogs in Paris now presents a curated selection of lesser-known stories from a diverse collection of photographers and artists. At a time when our photography consumption is almost saturated, the aim of Wild Dogs in Paris is to highlight projects that rightly stand out from the crowd, and to create a place where they can be collected and presented.

This is the first time Wild Dogs exhibit in a gallery in Paris. So far, the collection was only seen on the online platform. To mark the occasion, Tom Hoops has curated an exhibition of fifteen Wild Dogs members in Paris, with his own works as well as works by u.a. Kate Bellm, Luis and Sergio del Amo, Sean Lotman, Steve Macleod, Salvatore Matarazzo, Rochelle Mendez, Dan Sully and Piotr Zbierski.
