until 11.06. | #0531ARTatBerlin | Galerie Martin Mertens currently presents the exhibition “hunting clouds in the moonlight” by the artists Radu Belcin and Flavia Pitis.
The exhibition examines the tendency in humans to explore themselves as well as to try to fathom their relationship to their surroundings and their environment. Central to both artists is constant self-reflection and repositioning. When people succeed in breaking the routine of the everyday, they can find new paths and possibilities outside the conventions of society. They can develop a stronger creative and playful outlook, and examine and question the basic requirements of life. In Belcin’s and Pitis’ images, the actions of the people — which appear to be useless in our present society — show how unusually we might create our life if we leave our routine and overcome our habitual thought patterns. Nature is an important aide in this, even though nature evolves independently, regardless of human presence.
Vernissage: Thursday, 28th April 2016
