until 15.05. | #0498ARTatBerlin | Galerie Eigenheim presents from the 15th April 2016 the solo exhibition “Malerische Verhandlung” by the artist Martin Mohr.

The paintings by Martin Mohr are characterized by a direct, gesturally yearning activity. In the sense of studying all of the possible pictorial means and possibilities, each image in his process-oriented work retreats from the abhorrence of discussion. Each work renegotiates itself in order to unify the representational and non-representational in an imagistic space. In this way, real places and material constructions are connected with intangible ideas and thoughts. Missing and undiscovered transitional forms and interfaces drive the artist to exemplify the painterly treatment of each image. The initiation relies upon strong imagination, a game of context and physical confrontation: Which area is that which opposes which figure? In this way, a negotiation between the defining elements takes place – the initiatory and the finished motif remains open until its completion. This discovery and negotiation is not about mapping the world as it exists, but more about developing a personally visual world. For him, these utopian and aspiratory places are spaces of visions and dreams: Intangible ideas and presentational rooms that push the viewer into a space of negotiation that forces a sear- ching for the realities of their own associations or interpretations and perceptions. The images are constructed of sensual experienceability and power relations, all of which merge into a constellation of images that self-construct into one totality.
