until 14.01. | #0833ARTatBerlin | hiltawsky gallery shows from 04. November 2016 the exhibition “Marilyn Monroe 90th Anniversary. A Life in Pictures” by different artists.

With „One Moment in Time“, we display the second solo show of sculptures and drawings by Angelika Arendt. In 2017 the Berlin based artist will present two solo shows; at the 4th Biennial of Drawing in Nuremberg and at the Till Richter Museum, Buggenhagen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We will present sculptures and drawings from 2016, in which Angelika fully utilises her artistic expression by experimenting with new and classic materials, always looking for that one special, about which Whitney Houston sang in 1988, “One Moment in Time”.
For the first time Angelika Arendt has created sculptures and ceramics, connected with a long artistic tradition in moulding using clay, the classic material. The artist has created distinctive, individualistic forms, which materialise as physical characters. Her largest figure, almost 60 cm tall, with its voluminous, rounded shapes and surfaces is the embodiment of “Aphrodite”, born out flat, faceted platelets and drop shapes, scales, lichens and foliage.
Angelika Arendt is well known for her detailed and intricate fine ink drawings, which oscillate between ornamental structures and figurative elements, but unlike classical ornaments they are characterised by a spatial illusion. Inspired by nature, she creates unique moments, full of vitality, love and life, using ink, watercolour and gouache. She is driven – as the title of one of her brand new black and white drawing implies – by seeking for a “new utopia”. A year ago she has discovered the technique of etching, which accommodates her style of fine line drawing.
Angelika Arendt was born in Böblingen, Germany and studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. She was awarded the Berlin Hyp Award in 2014. Her works are included in numerous collections, for example Sammlung Hartmann, in Bregenz, Austria, Sammlung Würth, Künzelsau and Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, Remagen in Germany.

Vernissage: Thursday, 3th November 2016, 7– 10 p.m.

Exhibition period: Friday, 4th November 2016 – 14th January 2017
