until 07.09. | #2531ARTatBerlin | DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM presents from 10th August 2019 the exhibition “GrünLand” by the artist Klaus Jörres.

Under the title GrünLand, Dittrich & Schlechtriem is showing a series of large and small-format paintings by Berlin artist Klaus Jörres. These can be seen on the walls of the exhibition space as well as on several movable metal frames mounted on castors that stand freely in the room.

At the centre of Jörres’ art is the spatial-temporal character of our perceptions. The works are laid out in linear layers and executed by hand in acrylic colours. In the process, areas are repeatedly masked and uncovered, so that in a multitude of arrangements and working steps a flat yet subtly spatial surface is created. The tensions embedded in the composition evoke false shadows or forms that seem to move under the eyes of the viewer. Shimmering landscapes seem to emerge. Out of this lively flow of energy, the work breaks through the flatness of its minimalist form and pushes back into a three-dimensionality that now unfolds on the front and back sides of the modular frames. These could be rolled to the left or right, they could rotate around their own axis; an almost performative appearance disguised as functionality and rational gestures.

Vernissage: Friday, 9th August 2019, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Exhibition period: Saturday, 10th August to Saturday, 7th September 2019
