until 01.09. | #2097ARTatBerlin | Galerie Deschler presents since 6th July 2018 the exhibition wir sehen by the artist Jörn Grothkopp.
In his paintings, Jörn Grothkopp focuses on classical subject matter—landscapes, portraits, nudes—but reinterprets them in a very unique manner. By removing most details and reducing the elements of the images to their most basic structures, he effects a radical simplification of the image. In doing so, he provides a structure of relationships for the complex experience of viewing, whose seeming simplicity is transformed back into a complex visual experience in the act of beholding.
