until 05.08. | #2007ARTatBerlin | Haus am Lützowplatz shows from 25. April 2018 the exhibition “Großes Gesichtsfeld” by the artist Heiner Franzen.
With the support of the Hauptstadtkulturfonds, Haus am Lützowplatz presents the first institutional solo exhibition of the draftsman and video artist Heiner Franzen in Berlin. Franzen transforms the upper gallery into a video environment under the title “Great Field of View”, in which all the exhibition rooms are merged into a walk-in sculptural object through various installations. The spatial installation serves as a projection surface for a large number of mostly newly created cinematic works by the artist. These are multi-channel loops, in which found footage, real movie and animations were processed. In Franz’s concept of the work, the mechanism of memory plays a special role:
“I am interested in the current material, from which we build models of personal certainties and from this constitute or constitute constituted language and objects. This material can be found in digital media, movies, TV shows, etc. These can be flashing details or image fragments around which I begin to work in the sense of a supposed reflex: one picture hangs while I’m on the other : Standing in the studio, sitting in the cinema, watching the news, etc., disturbing the pictures, placing them in a space of drawings, videos and objects. “(Heiner Franzen)
The walk through the exhibition at Haus am Lützowplatz takes visitors on a journey into the interior of the unconscious or preconscious. Heiner Franzen was born in Papenburg in 1961 and has been living and working in Berlin since 1989.
Vernissage: Wednesday, 25th April 2018, 07:00 p.m.
