until 20.11. | #3208ARTatBerlin | Galerie mutare shows from 23rd October 2021 an exhibition with painting and object by the artist Erika Stürmer-Alex as part of the gallery project “Die neue Brücke – durch Chaos und Ordnung zur Freiheit” (> The new bridge – through chaos and order to freedom).
A brochure will be published to accompany the exhibition and a recent short film will be shown.
Erika Stürmer-Alex, Corona überall, 2021
Erika Stürmer-Alex (signature EST), born in Wriezen/Oderbruch in 1938, studied painting, graphic arts and art in construction at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art from 1958 to 1963. Then she moved to Woltersdorf near Erkner. She travelled to Eastern Bloc countries as well as Paris and Venice, and after reunification to Naxos, Brazil, London and New York. Since 1982 she has lived near Frankfurt/Oder, where she established the Kunsthof Lietzen. Here EST continued the art courses she had been giving at the Kulturhaus Rüdersdorf since 1969. In 1991 she co-founded the artists’ association “Endmoräne”. In 1992 she was awarded the Förderpreis des Landes Brandenburg. In 1994 she was guest of honour at the Villa Massimo Rome. In 2015 she was honoured for her life’s work with the Brandenburg Art Prize. Since 1990, her works have also been present at international exhibitions; her catalogue raisonné was published in 2018. The Mutare Gallery has represented EST since 2017.
