until 19.11. | #3185ARTatBerlin | GALERIE SCHMALFUSS BERLIN shows from 2. October 2021 the solo exhibition URBAN JUNGLE with new works by the artist Carola Schapals.

In a hazy atmosphere and rather dull light, CAROLA SCHAPALS lets her colours shine impressively, so that strong green and delicate violet are staged equally. Dreams of Mid-Century Bungalows in enchanted landscapes come true here.

Flora, 2020, 120 x 160 cm, Oil on Canvas

The artist Carola Schapals, born in Wilhelmshaven in 1954, is inspired by her everyday impressions and acts painterly between exact description and intuitive capture. The austere architecture surrounded by wild nature gives rise to compositions of compelling clarity. Time stands still here. One is invited to experience these works in their abstracting figurativeness and to let oneself be carried away into the gardens of paradise …

Carola Schapals

The artist, who lives and works in Bremen, completed her studies in free painting at the Universities of Fine Arts in Hannover and Bremen. Her working method emphasizes painting outdoors – plein air – in addition to studio painting, where she immerses herself completely in her subject and paints in natural light and shade conditions. SCHAPALS has received international awards for her work, such as the Royal Talens Painting Award Noordwijk (NL), and has been able to present her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions at national and international level. In 2019, a successful collaboration took place with the exhibition “Landscape” at the Gallery’s Marburg Dependance.
