until 15.07. | #1300ARTatBerlin | lorch+seidel shows from 27th April 2017 the exhibition “HE FASHIONED IT AND BREATHED INTO IT OF HIS SPIRIT” by the artist Luca Lanzi.
The works of Luca Lanzi – sculptures, drawings, and prints – can be interpreted in very different ways. His doll and animal motifs are reminiscent of archaic fetish objects; at the same time, they couldalmost have been produced by the hands of children. In developing his singular pictorial language, Luca Lanzi draws inspiration from both of these imaginative worlds. But regardless of the intentions that guide their creation, he invests them with his deepest emotions, his very soul. He creates them in his own image, breathes his own spirit into them, revealing his innermost self in the process. Luca Lanzi’s works do not depict an external world, but are instead the products of private intuition. In an allegorical sense, his art reminds us of the idea of a story of divine creation, and of the primary human need toexplain and to shape the world in our own image.
LUCA LANZI (born in Bologna/IT in 1977) studied at the academies of fine arts in Bologna and Berlin-Weissensee. In 2005, he was a fellow at the Collegio Artistico Venturoli Foundation.
