until 25.11. | #4048ARTatBerlin | Köppe Contemporary shows from 23. September 2023 (Opening: 22.09.) the group exhibition Red Romance with works by the artists Jojo Caramelle, Becker Schmitz, Willi Tomes and Robert Rudiger.
The color red is a striking color. One that catches the eye and triggers a strong appeal. Provocative and dynamic, the color red screams for attention. In countless variations, the color red is used in art – from delicate rose red to vermilion, crimson and ruby red to fire red and blood red.
The color red is a joyful and passionate color. It is a color of life and energy. It represents joy, passion and eroticism as well as aggression. Politically, red is a color of revolution. For communism and socialism, for example, it is the central symbolic color. Everywhere in the streetscape, in the media and in advertising we encounter it as the central signal color.

Red has always played a special role in the history of art, whether in the luminous robes of the saints in religious paintings, the stirring emotions in expressionist works, or the abstract interpretations of modern artists.
In the exhibition “Red Romance,” the color red takes center stage. Four artists have created or provided paintings and objects for the exhibition in which they individually interpret the various expressions of red in aesthetic and thematic ways. This is especially done in the context of the source materials, as the artists use everyday materials such as truck tarps, book covers, and vinyl records.
