NEWS ++ Berlin Art Week 2026: LU YANG – DOKU: Triage – Art at the Westend Kochhaus, DRK Kliniken Berlin Westend | 11.09.-14.09.2026

As part of Berlin Art Week, DRK Kliniken Berlin Westend and KUNST IM WESTEND e.V. are presenting a site-specific installation by multimedia artist Lu Yang in the historic ‘Kochhaus’ at DRK Kliniken Berlin Westend. LU YANG | DOKU: TRIAGE stages an encounter between medicine, technology and Buddhist concepts of reincarnation, expanding Lu Yang’s well-known DOKU universe into an immersive spatial experience.

For LuYang, the hospital is not a neutral place: ever since he was a child, he has been repeatedly confronted with illness and the fragility of the body. His work for the ‘Kochhaus’ at the DRK Clinics Berlin Westend was developed specifically for this location as part of the ‘Art in the Hospital’ project.

An installation comprising hospital beds arranged in the main hall and large-format banners suspended from the ceiling responds to the clinical space in a restrained, contemplative yet direct manner, drawing on imagery from LuYang’s well-known series “DOKU The Self” and “DOKU The Flow”.
