Salon Galerie Die Möwe invites on December 3, 2018 to a salon evening on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the November Group. The gallery is currently hosting the associated exhibition.
“Dear friends of the Salon Gallery,
We cordially invite you on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 6 p.m. (Admission: 5.30 p.m.) to an extraordinary salon evening, which will take place on the occasion of our current exhibition “Radikal. Visionary. Unadapted” is dedicated to the anniversary of the November Group.
On December 3, one hundred years ago, artists gathered in Berlin for the first meeting of the November Group. After the victory of the November Revolution in Germany, they wanted to play an active role in shaping the young republic. Soon the association had 170 artists, painters, sculptors, composers, writers, art theorists and architects.
Between 1919 and 1932, the November Group made a major contribution to the breakthrough of modernism in Germany in various artistic genres. An impression of the avant-garde work of the Novembrists is conveyed both by the pictures in our exhibition and by our Musical-Literary Salon. On this evening the actress Annekathrin Bürger and the pianist Matthew Rubenstein will present texts and compositions which reflect the forward-looking concern of the November Group as well as the spirit of optimism in the years after 1918.
Please note that standing room is mainly available for this event. Please register by Wednesday, 28 November 2017.
With kind regards
Claudia Wall and the Möwe-Team
