On 3 September 2026, the historic Prater Galerie on Kastanienallee will reopen its doors as a municipal gallery following extensive refurbishment. To mark the opening, it will present the exhibition Courage: Sisters in Spirit featuring exclusively works by women artists. The focus is on female artists who have critically reflected on the present and who have shown – and continue to show – visible resistance, both in their private lives and in their art. The exhibition is part of the ifa exhibition series Publik Machen.
The Prater Galerie, founded in 1967, is returning to its newly refurbished traditional premises on Kastanienallee.
With the reopening of the municipally-run Prater Galerie, Berlin is regaining a venue for contemporary art, exchange and cultural encounters. The gallery will reopen its doors on 3 September following extensive refurbishment. The Volksbühne will also resume operations in the neighbouring venue next season.
