To mark the 60th anniversary of its founding, on October 12 from 6:30 pm on, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program is inviting its fellows and alumni, along with artists, cultural practitioners, and the Berlin audience to an evening of celebration at Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10.
In 1963, in the middle of the Cold War, the Ford Foundation established an Artists-in-Residence programme in Berlin. It was intended to protect West Berlin from “cultural isolation” and create a “free port of the arts”. In 1965, the DAAD took over the programme under a new name.
