On the occasion of Berlin Art Week, Villa Romana (Florence) and the Georg Kolbe Museum (Berlin) jointly celebrate their anniversaries. Looking back at 120 and 75 years respectively, both institutions reflect on their legacy and their present role as artist houses.
In 1905, Georg Kolbe was one of the first winners of the Villa Romana Prize. To this day, Villa Romana hosts its prize winners each year for a ten-month residency in Italy. As part of the anniversary exhibition Tea and Dry Biscuits, talks with former prize winners will take place alongside a special sound installation.
The installation, created in collaboration with Radio Papesse (Florence) and supported by Deutschlandfunk and ifa Galerie Berlin, weaves together the voices of former fellows into a multi-voiced “Corale” – a tribute to 120 years of Villa Romana and to the …
