PRAXES Center for Contemporary Art (closed)

From 2013 to 2015 PRAXES was located at Alexandrinenstraße 118–121, 10969 Berlin. The two-story exhibition space is part of the former church complex St. Agnes by architect Werner Düttmann.

Co-founded by Rhea Dall and Kristine Siegel, PRAXES Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin (2013-2015) presented four half-year cycles of exhibitions, publications, and events, each revolving around two unassociated artistic practices. Bergen Assembly 2016 was the second chapter of this investigation.

As part of the Bergen Assembly 2016, PRAXES expanded and tested its modular methodology against the framework of the biennial model. Episodically inhabiting different venues throughout Bergen, PRAXES initiated a year-long material discussion centering on two unassociated artistic practices: Lynda Benglis and Marvin Gaye Chetwynd.

Starting in February 2016 and running through December 2016, consecutive exhibitions, publications, and events unfolded existing works, archival matter, new large-scale commissions, and unrealized proposals.

PRAXES Center for Contemporary Art was located on Alexandrinenstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
