Founded in 1986, the Käthe Kollwitz Museum is dedicated to the life’s work of the most internationally renowned German female artist of the 20th century.
Käthe Kollwitz (1867–1945) lived and worked in Berlin for over 50 years and created distinctive graphic and sculptural works whose socially critical and peace-promoting messages are universally understandable and more relevant than ever.
Since September 2022, the museum—formerly located on Fasanenstraße—has been housed in the new, prestigious premises of the Theaterbau at Charlottenburg Palace. In addition to the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions focusing on Käthe Kollwitz’s contemporaries and her influence on contemporary art enrich the museum experience.
