tierisch … | Group Exhibition | Galerie SCHMALFUSS BERLIN | 09.03.-27.04.2024

until 27.04. | #4207ARTatBerlin | Galerie SCHMALFUSS BERLIN shows from 9. March 2024 the group exhibition tierisch … (> beastly …) with works by ten artists.

GALERIE SCHMALFUSS BERLIN presents the group exhibition “tierisch…” with works by Ariane Boss, Christiane Erdmann, Pierre Fischer, Michael Lauterjung, Hannes Mussner, Sigrid Nienstedt, Florian Pelka, Silke Rehberg, Hans Scheib and Roland Stratmann.

The exhibition focuses on the characteristics, symbolic content and life cycle of an animal in relation to humans. They are friends, everyday companions, food or mythical visions. They appear individually, in company and in clusters. When we look at them, we feel the sleek movement of a predator or the dynamism of a school of fish. The exhibition includes the classic lifelike animal portrait as well as human-animal creatures and imaginative creatures that are difficult to categorise.

The exhibited works are not only multi-faceted in terms of material, technique and motif, but also critical of the times. Roland Stratmann’s series of works entitled “Ich bin dann mal weg” (“I’m off then”), for example, scrutinises people’s sense of responsibility towards the animal kingdom.

Seen through the eyes of the artist, the animal becomes visible in its various facets – from lamblike to ferocious.

Vernissage: Saturday, 9. March 2024 from 4:00 Uhr to 8:00 pm

Ausstellungsdaten: Saturday, 9. March until Saturday, 27. April 2024
