until 09.01. | #2933ARTatBerlin | GALERIE SCHMALFUSS BERLIN shows from 5th December 2020 the group show H2O with 15 individual positions on the topic water and its different appearances.

The selection shows realistic, romantic and naturalistic works, up to impressionistic, abstract and experimental positions. In the wide historical rooms of the gallery, these positions are particularly well represented.

Water consists of oxygen and hydrogen, it is a chemical compound. Two thirds of the earth’s surface are covered by water. Water occurs in three forms: as water vapour, as liquid water and as solid water (ice). We experience liquid water as rain, in rivers and streams, in lakes and seas.

The solid water in the Arctic and in changing seasons on the continents. The exhibition H2O – alles im Fluss, the SCHMALFUSS Berlin – contemporary fine arts, tells of these water phenomena and movements.

Fifteen artists share their views, experiences and sensations with this chemical compound. In their various representations we experience the visible water; the subterranean water remains hidden.

Water is life, is movement. But water can also be deadly if it is a sea of salt water. And this salt water is the most common on earth.

The artists let the water romp like JAN PETER TRIPP, let the water appear as a blue reflection like in ANNETTE BESGEN. CLAUS DELVAUX makes the architecture of cities double and shine in the water. MALTE VON SCHUCKMANN shows the green, impenetrable water in the surf of the North Sea. KATHRIN RANK shows the water in its solid form as cathedrals of ice in the Arctic. Abstract but unmistakable, ROMAN LIPSKI designs the element inspired also by his muse, an artificial intelligence. The Seashanties by UWE HAND combine water and sky in magnificent illumination, JOHANNES SCHRAMM shows the creature in the water and SIGRID NIENSTEDT presents a calmly balanced piece of sea. SONJA WEBER creates the water with light and movement even on a textile surface and WERNER MALLY with the cloud of ignorance pretends water made of wood.
