until 27.05. | #3419ARTatBerlin | Migrant Bird Space presents in collaboration with the Jian Teahouse in Berlin from 9. April 2022 the group exhibition SPRING by the artists Qi Zhuo, Wang Hua, Weng Jijun, Wu Haoyu, Zhang Ruo and Zhong Sheng. The exhibition will be shown at Stiftung für Bildhauerei.
“SPRING” is the new exhibition of Migrant Bird Space entirely dedicated to Chinese Ceramic, glass and Lacquer Art.
Through the employ of traditional materials and techniques, they mix their own personal language with the contemporary taste and vocabulary, in order to create a dialogue with the past, and project it into the future.
Time and time, we are flooded by unbelievable news, leading us to dissociate from reality. Too often, these artists feel detachment towards this declining world. For this reason, they turn to the past to find reassurance and reconcile with our uncertain future. Refined by years of studies, their practice allow them to bring the tradition to life in front of the viewer, meanwhile creating a strong bond to the surrounding environment.
Their works and artifacts are expressive, nourishing our lives and hearts. Their soft shapes and silky lines comfort our troubled mind and soul, leading us to feel closer to Mother Nature. They are hymns to fire, the Earth, nature, and people’s hearts.
Zhuo Qi feeds his artistic practice with the daily experience of the semantic and linguistic miracles generated by cultural otherness and his share of misunderstandings.
As part of a generation of Chinese artists who grew up during a period of rapid urbanization, Wang Hua uses a wide range of different media and methods to translate philosophical ideas.
Weng Jijun continues to explore and innovate his practice, while persisting the tradition of lacquer art in China.
Every creation is very personal to Wu Haoyu, and therefore must be well thought out. The expression of art should be the expression of the artist’s soul, abundant in sincerity and emotion.
This Zhang Ruo’s work may seem like cute and sprouting at first glance, but after careful consideration, everyone will soon realize that the serious topics conveyed through these works are being transformed, ravaged, controlled, and swallowed.
Zhong Sheng´s practice explores the arrangement of traditional lacquer technology and modern design. For him, through communicating with the ancient people and understanding the traditional art, we can find what we are lacking nowadays.
