Bettina Hilleckes has known her artists for a long time and strives for a lasting and trusting collaboration with them. The gallery owner owes her numerous contacts to artists and collectors to her many years of work in the art scene. She was, for example, artistic director of the Berlin art trade Springer & Winckler, founder and partner of art affairs Berlin and Head of Fair Department at the gallery owner Michael Schultz.
“I dream of finally having the time to be able to work carefully with an artist and to accompany and support him or her along the way,” is how art historian Hilleckes outlines her vision of the new gallery. The artists should feel well looked after and cared for by her. “We treat her work with great respect and corresponding appreciation, because they work at the highest level of quality and are excellently trained”. At the same time, she also wants to build up a new generation of collectors with the gallery.
Her business partner Anna Probst, a business graduate, brings the same joy and enthusiasm for art. “The work ahead of us gives the commercial concept of ‘value creation’ a further dimension for me. We work with creative values. I find it more exciting to highlight these and place them in the public perception than simply striving for a higher monetary value,” she says.
The program of the gallery hilleckes probst is based on diversity and focuses more on contrasts than on specific art movements. The two art connoisseurs are planning four to five exhibitions a year, which they intend to carefully curate with a lot of time. “This is the only way we can reach the high level to which we have committed ourselves. After all, we are committed to our artists and collectors and are grateful for their trust,” explains Bettina Hilleckes.
Participations in international and national art fairs such as art Cologne, art Karlsruhe, viennacontemporary and art Miami are planned. “We’ll have to see whether we can already achieve this in 2020/21,” says Hilleckes.
hilleckes probst gallery is located on Suarezstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
