nüüd.berlin was initially founded in 2016 by Henner Merle as “fine art berlin project spaces”. The gallery represents painters, sculptors and photographers and organises exhibitions and supporting programmes. In addition to discovering and promoting talented newcomers, the gallery owner also wants to introduce established artists who have not yet exhibited in Berlin or Germany and make them known nationally as well as internationally. As director and co-founder of the former gallery ZFF – Zentrum für Fotografie in Berlin (1997/98) & co-curator of the exhibition for the successful book BERLIN WONDERLAND by Anke Fesel & Chris Keller (2014), he gained practical experience as a gallery owner and curator. After five years of numerous pop-up exhibitions at ever-changing locations, Henner Merle decided to take the next step and open a permanent space for art exhibitions in Berlin-Mitte in September 2021, despite the difficult pandemic year. With the permanent location and the planning security gained through this, exhibitions with the gallery’s artists and other artists will now be held regularly. In March 2021, gallery owner Sandra Schindler and curator Vanessa Souli founded the Schindler LAB as an experimental space of the Galerie Schindler in Potsdam. Located at Bäckerstraße 3, the LAB presents established and emerging artists with monthly changing exhibitions. The space is dedicated to presenting innovative group exhibitions that challenge the status quo of art in the Brandenburg region. The LAB and the associated gallery see themselves as a place of exchange, innovation and dialogue through the promotion of artists from the surrounding region and from Berlin.
